The book erroneously states that the Native American population was reduced toas a result of disease. Now Dk homework encyclopaedia get that the book isn’t going to talk about rape, torture, and murder. If they had just bypassed the genocide of Native Americans, I would have been very frustrated but not surprised since most of the information is very surface.
But if they are going to talk about why the population was reduced so dramatically, dk homework encyclopaedia, then they should find a way to be honest as opposed to sharing straight up misinformation by excluding other KEY facts. I can’t rely on this book to teach my children FACTS, which is why I bought it.
We know that there are conspiracy theorists who believe that no Native Americans were intentionally harmed during colonization. We know that people still question the holocaust. These are not political arguments up for debate, these are matters of history and we happen to have plenty of documentation to prove that both of these atrocities took place.
I am not asking that the publishers share an opinion about the genocide of Native Americans. I am asking that they not reduce their near-erasure to disease alone.
If the publishers don’t have the courage to share facts in a book designed to educate children, it calls into question information dk homework encyclopaedia every other subject in the book.
